Mail Server Migration - Details & How To’s
All of a Sudden I see a new Mail Interface, where’s the old mail server interface ? Why was the mail server changed ?You see a new Mail Interface because we have migrated our Mail Server from Merak to SmarterMail.
Why we changed this, the reason is because we want to offer smooth & efficient mailing system and since last couple of months we have been receiving regular complaints about our revious Mail Server which was running on Merak and our team has been trying to resolve the issues have faced. Even though we have upgraded the hardware & the software versions the problem specially with the load issue on web mail and server has been constantly on the rising side apart from the increasing spam & virus problem.
I logged in at the new webmail interface, but I can’t find my old mails ? Where are my old mails, are they lost ?
No none of your old mails are lost, You can continue checking your old mails at http://75.126.143.170 till the time you haven’t moved your old mails from the old server to the new server.
Login into your old mail server at http://75.126.143.170
Why didn’t you migrated the old mails from the server when you migrated my account ?
We’d have loved to do that, unfortunately SmarterMail don’t have a proper migration tool to migrate and convert the mails from Merak to SmarterMail and hence the mails were not migrated and are still available at the old server.
But along with that the good news is that we are working over the migration utility and we anticipate that a migration utility should be soon available with us.
I want my old Mails to be migrated to the new server, how can I do that ?
You can fetch the data from the old server using the illustrations given in the following video tutorial : http://dnsracks.com/smartermail/6.htm, Please use IP 75.126.143.170 instead of 70.85.17.215 when you do it for fetching your mails.
My Password is not working, I can’t login at the Webmail using my old password.
This can happen if you changed your password in the past using the Webmail interface, You’ll have to reset your password from the HELM and the problem should go away.
Is their anything else you’d like me to remember ?
1) You can fetch the data from the old server using the illustrations given in the following video tutorial :
http://dnsracks.com/smartermail/6.htm : Please use IP 75.126.143.170 instead of 70.85.17.215 in fetching.
2) You can continue checking their old mails at http://75.126.143.170 till the time you haven’t moved your old files.
3) If you wish to download your mails directly to your outlook from the old server simply give the IP address “75.126.143.170″ without quotes instead of mail.domain.com in the incoming mail server settings of your outlook
and all mails from the old server would be downloaded to your outlook.
4) If you had changed the password thru the webmail then they might have to reset the passwords as their old password may not work, you can easily do that by going to HELM > Domains > Your domain.com > EMAIL Accounts > Reset Password.
5) Your address books might not appear available, Please open the following url how to merge address book in your smartermail account http://dnsracks.com/smartermail/5.htm
6) If you had created blacklist & white list files they would not be imported and these would have to be recreated.
While we understand the above issues can come up, we can assure you that once these have been worked out the new mail server would mean end to all your previous problems. We have prepared series of video tutorials for the common tasks and you’ll be able to see them on http://dnsracks.com/smartermail/ and also at the video section of our helpdesk.
